INFORMATION about the work of the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region in the first half of 2008
The activities of the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region (hereinafter referred to as the Legislative Assembly) during the period under review were aimed at further improving regional legislation and bringing it into compliance with federal legislation. The priorities in the work of the Legislative Assembly were determined by the Messages of the President of the Russian Federation to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Development Strategy of Russia until 2020, and national projects in the fields of healthcare, education, agriculture and housing construction.

Committees of the Legislative Assemblyare formed to conduct legislative work, prepare and consider issues within the competence of the Legislative Assembly, as well as to implement control functions. In order to ensure high-quality elaboration of draft laws and regulations submitted to the Legislative Assembly, the committees interacted with subjects of legislative initiative, the prosecutor's office of the Omsk region, the Advisory Council, scientists, specialists, and representatives of the public. In the first half of 2008, committees of the Legislative Assembly held 57 meetings, considered 497 issues, more than 200 of them were submitted to the Legislative Assembly for consideration.
