On October 3, 2024, a meeting of the Youth Chamber of Deputies under the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region was held in video-conference mode with the participation of representatives of the executive authorities and the Public Chamber of the Omsk Region, the Omsk Region Commissioner for Human Rights, and deputies of the Omsk City Council.
The meeting began with a welcoming speech by the Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region, Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Youth Policy Pavel Korny. He spoke about a working visit to the Lugansk People's Republic, where, together with the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region, Alexander Artyomov, they took part in a solemn event dedicated to the presentation of passports of the Russian Federation to young activists of the First Movement.
The first issue on the agenda was the draft law of the Omsk region "On Amending Article 3.1 of the Law of the Omsk Region" On State Regulation of the Retail Sale of Alcoholic Beverages in the Omsk Region. "
The explanatory note to the document states that "on the basis of proposals from youth and sports movements of the Omsk region, the draft law proposes to introduce a ban on the retail sale of alcoholic beverages in the Omsk region from 10 am to 10 pm local time on Youth Day."
In the course of the work, members of the chamber got acquainted with the results of the admission campaign in institutions of secondary vocational and higher education in 2024. The discussion aroused active interest among young deputies, so it was decided to return to considering this issue at the next meeting.
Information was also heard about the interaction of the Youth Chamber with the Omsk Region Commissioner for Human Rights. The deputies were presented with proposals for cooperation and interaction in solving issues of youth policy and social protection of certain categories of citizens. During the meeting, the main directions of work of the Youth Chamber of Deputies in the autumn session were outlined.
All information presented at the meeting was taken into account for use in further work.
It is worth noting that members of the Youth Chamber of Deputies at the regional parliament contribute to the development of youth parliamentarism, actively interact with bodies that deal with youth problems at the federal, regional and municipal levels.
