A round table on the topic “Affordable medical care for children is a step towards improving the health and future of the nation” was held today by the Social Policy Committee of the Legislative Assembly



A wide range of people gathered to discuss the issues of affordable medical care for children participants: deputies of the Legislative Assembly and the Omsk City Council, representatives of the regional ministries of health, labor and social development, youth affairs, physical culture and sports, finance, doctors of medical institutions of the Omsk region and other invitees. Opening the event, the chairman of the social policy committee of the regional parliament, Vadim Berezhnoy, emphasized that a similar round table dedicated to the issues of affordable medical care for children was held four years ago. Then deputies of the regional parliament and representatives of executive authorities also gathered. "The situation has changed in that time," he said. "But there are issues that need to be addressed."
A comprehensive discussion of the issue on the agenda began with a report from the Deputy Minister of Health of the Omsk Region, Olga Bogdanova, who spoke about the organization of medical care for children in the Omsk Region. In her speech, she reported in detail on the development of maternal and child health services, the system of providing primary health care to children, including primary specialized health care, specialized, including high-tech, medical care, the functioning of Children’s Health Centers and medical social offices organized on the basis of health care institutions of the Omsk region, about the health status of the children's population of the Omsk region.
Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Development of the Omsk Region Sergei Dobrykh told the audience about measures of social support and rehabilitation of disabled children in the Omsk region. In turn, Deputy Minister for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports of the Omsk Region Tatyana Rudenok informed about the organization of children's health and recreation in 2013-2014.
During the round table meeting, its participants discussed issues of staffing children's medical institutions, the development of social support and rehabilitation of disabled children in the region, and the work of specialized children's camps. They also discussed the demographic situation in the Omsk region, interdepartmental cooperation in the field of medical care for children, and social-private partnerships. We also talked about current issues that need to be addressed. In particular, about the need for further development of the material and technical base of healthcare institutions. The round table participants paid special attention to children's nutrition, including in preschool institutions. Information was presented on the production and sale of baby food products, and on the possibility of organizing children's sports nutrition. The issue of the food procurement system for children's institutions was also raised.
Concluding the round table, Vadim Berezhnoy noted: “The main thing is that we got what we wanted to achieve – we not only saw various data, but heard questions and suggestions. The open communication mode helps resolve issues and interact.” Based on the results of the round table, relevant recommendations will be drawn up.
