On September 17-19, 2024, Omsk hosts the IV Forum of heads of regions from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states. The program is aimed at strengthening interregional cooperation, supporting investment and developing industrial ties between the SCO countries. Today, September 18, 2024, is the main day of the forum. Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region Alexander Artemov and deputies of the regional parliament took part in the plenary session "Interregional Cooperation: a strategic path to sustainable development of the regions of the SCO member states".
More than 500 people from 11 countries, including delegations from 15 regions of Russia, the Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and India gathered in Omsk to discuss cooperation and make joint decisions and consider a wide range of issues related to the role and place of small businesses in the economy of the regions of the SCO member states.
The main objectives of the event are to strengthen interregional cooperation, support investments and links that contribute to the restoration of production chains and increase the level of industrial cooperation.
Omsk Region Governor Vitaly Khotsenko expressed confidence that a number of decisions and proposals to be adopted within the framework of the forum of heads of regions of the SCO countries in Omsk will be among the priorities of the Russian chairmanship in the Council of Heads of Government of the SCO countries.
The program of the forum is full of thematic panel sessions that allowed us to identify common interests and outline ways to implement joint projects in the field of logistics, agro-industrial complex, industrial cooperation, education and youth cooperation.
One of the key events of the day was the plenary session "Interregional Cooperation: a strategic path to sustainable development of the regions of the SCO member States", which was held with the participation of Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region Alexander Artemov and deputies of the regional parliament.
Representatives of federal ministries and organizations, official and business circles discussed the development of cooperation centers in the SCO countries, joint educational programs and cooperation in the agricultural and industrial complex. One of the important points was the discussion on the creation and development of logistics routes in the territory of 10 SCO countries. The forum participants considered the possibilities of increasing traffic volumes and creating multimodal transport corridors.
The joint decisions developed as a result of the forum will contribute not only to strengthening economic ties, but also to developing mutual trust and understanding between the SCO countries.
