On September 24, 2020, the first plenary meeting of the regional parliament took place in the autumn session. Opening the session, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region Vladimir Varnavsky outlined the priorities of the parliament’s work. The main issue on the agenda was the message from the Governor of the Omsk Region to the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region on the state of affairs in the Omsk Region. The deputies heard a report by the Governor of the Omsk Region, Chairman of the Government of the Omsk Region, Alexander Burkov, on the main directions of budgetary, economic and social policy for 2021.

On July 9, 2020, the last meeting of the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region took place in the spring session. The deputies reviewed current bills aimed at supporting large families, creating favorable conditions for conducting investment activities in the Omsk region, and discussed a number of other important documents. Concluding the session, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region Vladimir Varnavsky summed up the work of the parliament and outlined priorities for the coming period.

On June 11, 2020, deputies of the regional parliament heard a report from the Governor of the Omsk Region on the results of the activities of the Government of the Omsk Region in 2019. In addition, in the first reading, parliamentarians adopted a revised draft law on transport tax benefits for large families.

On May 21, 2020, the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region adopted laws providing for reduced tax rates for corporate property tax and a simplified taxation system. In addition, the draft law “On Amendments to Article 3 of the Law of the Omsk Region “On Transport Tax” was adopted for consideration, according to which it is planned to establish tax benefits for large families.

On April 23, 2020, the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region considered a whole package of bills aimed at reducing the burden on business due to the spread of coronavirus. Two laws were adopted immediately in all readings.

On March 26, 2020, the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region at a regular meeting agreed on the appointment of the prosecutor of the Omsk Region, and also considered the report of the head of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Omsk Region on police activities for 2019.

On March 12, 2020, the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region considered the Law of the Russian Federation on an amendment to the Constitution of the Russian Federation “On improving the regulation of certain issues of the organization and functioning of public authority” and decided to approve it. In addition, it was decided to appeal to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin with a petition to award the city of Omsk the honorary title of the Russian Federation “City of Labor Valor”.

On February 20, 2020, deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk region adopted the law “On amendments to the Law of the Omsk region “On the regional budget for 2020 and for the planning period of 2021 and 2022.” In accordance with it, regional budget expenses for 2020 were increased, including including for the implementation of national projects in the Omsk Irtysh region.
