On October 26, 2017, the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region adopted at its next plenary meeting the regional law “On the cost of living for a pensioner in the Omsk Region for 2018,” according to which it will be 8,480 rubles.

On September 28, 2017, the first plenary meeting of the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region took place in the autumn session. At the meeting, deputies approved changes to the regional budget, adopted laws aimed at expanding social support measures for certain categories of citizens, and considered a number of other laws.

On August 8, an extraordinary plenary meeting of the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region took place.  The deputies reviewed the draft law of the Omsk region "On amendments to the Law of the Omsk region "On the regional budget for 2017 and for the planning period of 2018 and 2019."

On July 6, 2017, the final plenary meeting of the regional parliament took place in the spring session. Several dozen issues were discussed there. Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region Vladimir Varnavsky summed up the work of the parliament.

Public hearings on the report on the execution of the regional budget for 2016 took place on June 27, 2017 in the conference hall of the regional government. The hearing was attended by Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region Vladimir Varnavsky, deputies of the regional parliament, representatives of ministries and departments of the Omsk region, local governments of the Omsk region, territorial government bodies of the Russian Federation, political parties, public organizations, the media and citizens, and in total more than 270 Human.

On May 31, 2017, the second forum of young legislators took place in the regional parliament. The agenda included issues of implementation of youth policy, legislative activity, interaction with public and youth organizations, authorities and others. The forum was attended by the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region Vladimir Varnavsky and the Governor of the Omsk Region Viktor Nazarov.

On May 23, 2017, the regional parliament approved changes to the regional law on major repairs of common property in apartment buildings, and also accepted for consideration a bill regulating the provision of free ownership of land plots to certain categories of citizens.

The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, by order No. 124-rp dated April 14, 2017, expressed gratitude to the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Omsk Region, Vladimir Alekseevich Varnavsky. Vladimir Varnavsky was awarded a high award “For active legislative activity.”

On April 20, 2017, the Legislative Assembly amended the law establishing a tax rate of 0 percent for certain types of business activities. In addition, draft laws aimed at increasing the investment attractiveness of the Omsk region and creating favorable tax conditions for conducting business activities have been accepted for consideration.
